Team work

Teamwork

"Talent wins games but teamwork and intelligence wins championships"

~ Michael Jordan

What is teamwork?

Teamwork is the opportunity for students to collaborate and work together to complete a shared goal.

Why is it important?

We encourage the children to work in teams as this helps to foster cooperative learning as well as develop creative thinking and problem solving techniques. Working in a team creates the opportunity for children to develop important and valuable life skills that will be valuable in future learning and in the workforce. These include;

  • communication

  • compromise

  • collective effort to a common goal

How is it used in the AG Class?

Teamwork is an important skill we work to develop in the AG Class. Each week children are given the opportunity to be a team leader and are given explicit tasks to achieve as team leader. Tasks are allocated to other team members by the team leader and the children report to the team leader that week. This helps to develop social responsibility and can motivate children to achieve.

In any type of group work, negotiation and conflict resolution always plays a big role. Students must agree about who will take responsibility for tasks to be completed each week. We encourages children to learn from others using each other's strengths to complete the challenge. This approach helps children to develop time management, resource allocation and communication skills. It also gives children the opportunity to work with like-minded children and develop friendships.
