IT skills

Information technology (IT) skills are extremely helpful while working in the AG Class. While children do not need their own device, they do need access to a computer to be able to work on their homework and to communicate with their team members to complete challenges. Typing skills are always a bonus!

The kinds of IT skills that are helpful for children to have including;

Email

Each child will need access to an email account - preferable their own. Children will need to be able to check their email every week to review their homework. Desirable skills include checking for new mail, composing group emails, and adding attachments

We encourage the use of their department email account to help with the use of Google Classroom and Google team drives. Their email account is usually first name.lastname(sometimesanumber)@education.nsw.gov.au For example;

james.example6@education.nsw.gov.au

Teachers in their homeschool can inform your child of their email account and reset their password if your child cannot remember it.

Word or pages skills

Being able to create, save and send a word or pages document including formatting margins, font and font size is extremely helpful.

Google drive

We use Google drive accounts and Google Classroom for the AG Class. For this, it is best operated with children's department email account. Helpful skills include logging in to their drive account and accessing their team drives, creating new files and uploading files to the drive. Sometimes creating comments to team documents is also a helpful skill but not absolutely necessary.
