Definition of failure:
1. lack of success

2.The neglect or omission of expected or required action.

3. A lack or deficiency of a desirable quality.

Look at that definition! How many of us think that a failure is when we try something and don't do as well as we wanted? 

 

Does this mean that we lack the skills or ability to succeed in the given task? I would say most of us think this. But is that true?

Who decides if you are a success or a failure?

When is failure a true failure instead of negative feedback?

Are you afraid to try and fail?

Without failure, there is no success

Often, we experience a big failure just before we experience great success. This is because the failure helps us to see or find our strengths and most importantly, our weaknesses. It's like failure puts a beacon on what we do well, and what we need to improve on and we are only as strong as our biggest weakness. The failure we experienced also puts a fire in our belly. We don't want to feel the pain and disappointment of failure again, so we are determined to improve. Where do we start? With our weaknesses. Working on developing and improving our weaknesses improves every element of your skill set and puts you in a much better place to succeed. Sometimes, failure makes you go right back to the start - but this time, you are doing it with all your new knowledge that you have accumulated - and you are able to find the solution that was lost to you trying to rework a failed project.

Failure = learning

Once we are able to see failure as a learning opportunity, we are able to take the failure and feedback and learn from it. Failure does not mean that your journey is over - failure is an essential part of learning. Never be afraid to fail!
