Morrigan Crow is cursed. Born on an unlucky day, she is blamed for all misfortunate events in her local area, from hailstorms to heart attacks. Worst of all, Morrigan is due to die at midnight on Eventide, her twelfth birthday. As Morrigan awaits her fate, a strange man named Jupiter North whisks her away to a secret world called Nevermoor. Jupiter informs her that to stay in the safety of Nevermoor for ever she must pass four trials or meet her fate head on.
My favourite character is Morrigan Crow because she is courageous, smart and funny. The Trials of Morrigan Crow is an imaginative and entertaining story to read. Once you start reading it, it is hard to put down. I think this book is one of the best I have ever read. It has no downsides to it.
Jessica Townsend is an Australian author. She lives on the Sunshine coast in Queensland. She was a copywriter for eight years, and was once the editor of a children’s wildlife magazine for Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo. Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow is her first novel. It is the start of an enchanting new series.
I would recommend this book to around 8-10 year olds. Either girls or boys can read it, but girls are more likely to be attracted to it, as the main character is a girl and the book is mostly from her perspective. People who like fantasy adventures will enjoy this book. This book uses very little complex language, although it has some new and made up words. It would fit into the genres, fantasy and adventure.
