The Language of Thorns

Do you ever wish that fairytales end twisted or that the bad guys won? Then this book is your perfect match. In this book there are 6 lavishly illustrated tales that are filled with betrayals, romance and revenge. Travel through worlds where there are talking beasts and petrified girls, where a river will help a love struck boy only for a terrible price, or where a young mermaid’s song can summon an unforgivable storm.

The genre is fairytales, but could also fit into mild horror. This book is definitely a book for older and more mature children, as there is some old fashioned language and it has a very deep meaning. I would definitely rate this a 10 out of 10, as I could not put it down. If you liked Harry Potter then you should definitely try this.

The author, Leigh Bardugo was born in Jerusalem, grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from Yale University. From then on she has worked in advertising, journalism, and even make-up and special effects. These days she lives and writes in Hollywood, where she occasionally has a jam with her band!
