Magyk - Angie Sage

When Silas Heap found a little baby girl in the snow on the way back to the castle, he took her to the ramblings where he lived but before he arrived Marcia Overstrand Extra Ordinary Wizard told him to tell everyone that the little baby was born to him and to tell no one that he had found her. After Silas had found out that his youngest son Septimus had died he gave his wife, Sarah, the baby and Sarah called her Jenna. When Jenna turned ten years old Marcia had found out that the queen (Jenna’s mother) had died, so she took Jenna to the wizard tower. This book is about the exciting adventures Jenna has growing up with magyk around her.

I really like the part of the story when the hunter started to chase Marcia, Silas, boy 412, Nicko and Jenna in a bullet boat while the others were in a little sail boat called Muriel. Marcia used some of her magyk to tell the hunter to dive into the freezing water. It was very exciting.

The only thing I don’t like about this book is the cover. I think Mark Zug (the illustrator) should have done a light blue or red cover with a lock and a key. I also would like to know more about the author.

Magyk is the first book in the Septimus Heap series. The author is Angie Sage and the other books in the series are Flyte, Physik, Queste, Syren, Darke, Fyre and the Magykal Papers. It is an adventure fantasy book. I recommend this book to children from the age 9 to teens.

The Author Angie Sage was born in England in 1952 she has written all together 18 books in only three series. Angie Sage wanted to become Ephaniah Grebe’s assistant in the Manuscriptorium.

I would rate this book a 9.5/10 because I didn’t really like the cover.
