The main characters in this fantasy story are siblings Sadie and Carter. Ever since their mothers death Sadie has lived in England while Carter travelled the world with his dad Dr. Julius Kane. The siblings get together twice a year.
Then one year, their dad takes them to go to the British Museum, hoping to set things right. But instead releases the evil Egyptian god Se, who banishes Julius. Now the siblings must learn about the waking Egyptian god and learn the magic that was passed on for generations.
This book is good for people who like fantasy and mythological books. It also teaches you about the Egyptian words and gods. It is the first of a series of three called the Kane Chronicles but is also in extra books about Sadie and Carter to combine with Riordan’s other series Percy Jackson.
I think the ending was not as good as the other books in the series. They also did not describe the characters well at first. I liked this book because it teaches you about Egypt as well as having a great plot. I would have definitely described the characters better.
