In this absolutely fantastic adventure fantasy, Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit comes from the Shire, sets off on a dangerous and perilous journey. One day when Bilbo was smoking a pipe in his front garden, he gets a visit from the greatest wizard of all time, Gandalf the Grey. Gandalf offers Bilbo to join him on a quest, but Bilbo declines and Gandalf heads off.
That night, someone knocks on the door and it is a strange looking man expecting a feast. When other men arrive, Bilbo realises they are dwarfs. When Gandalf arrives, it is decided by Bilbo that he must start a feast. When all the dwarfs arrive, they explain that they need a robber to join them on a quest to The Lonely Mountain, where there treasure from their old home, is guarded by Smaug the Dragon under the mountain.
Bilbo is so confused by all this information he faints, and when he wakes up a couple of hours later, he still declines Gandalf’s invitation. When he wakes up the next morning, he decides that he should help these dwarfs on their journey.
I really liked the fact that the words are not too hard or too easy, I think they are just right for kids my age. I did not dislike anything about the book and I would not make any changes. The Hobbit is one book that is divided into three parts. There is a sequel but it is not part of a series, (the sequel is called The Lord of the Rings).
This book is filled full of mystery and action, fantasy and adventure. This book will make you sit on the edge of your seat as Bilbo encounters Gollum and giant spiders, meets new people and much more. I would recommend this book to everyone who loves fantasy aged 9 to adult. I rate this book 10/10.
